Bowers Kidseum

Bowers Kidseum, located just two blocks from the main Bowers Museum at 1802 N. Main Street in Santa Ana, provides arts and cultural activities for children and families. It is a place where children can experience and celebrate the beauty, ceremony and history of many different cultures. Kidseum provides intriguing school tours, cultural events and art camps. It is a hands-on cultural art museum. Permanent exhibits include: masks, musical instruments, puppets from around the world, ethnic dress-up area and a Native American Room. Included with the admission is an art lab, face painting and storytelling.

PRE-SCHOOL DISCOVERIES
will be held up in the Fluor Gallery, second floor of the Historic Wing. Miss Bev and Miss Jackie will be waiting for you with songs, art, storytelling and refreshments for children ages 3-5!

Admission

Members: $6 per child ($3 each additional sibling), Adults free. Non-members: $10 per child ($5 each additional sibling), Adults $5. For information and reservations for groups of six or more please call (714) 480-1522.

EARLY CHILDHOOD ENRICHMENT
The Bowers Kidseum will be hosting enrichment classes in four week sessions from 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for preschool through second grade, featuring cultural cooking, dance, music and art!

  • What: A little geography, a little history and lots of hands-on cooking fun! Our first session is cooking! Join us as we learn about different cultures, prepare and taste yummy recipes, and create a cookbook to take home at the end of the four week series!
  • Who: 3-8 year olds and parents
  • When: Tuesday or Wednesday, May 15 and 16 through June 5 and 6
  • Time: 12:30 PM - 2:00 PM
  • Price: 4 weeks for $65.00 (members) and $80.00 (non-members)

ART!
Make your own ‘Artyfact’ in our Art Lab in the Carriage House downstairs in the Historic Wing. Take home a memento based on the treasures in Mummies: Death and the Afterlife in Ancient Egypt and our other exciting exhibits!

FACE PAINTING!
Face and body painting by the popular Kidseum artists will be available in the Carriage House downstairs in the Historic Wing. Noted for their creative work, Bowers Museum face painters will paint a fire-breathing dragon wandering up your arm or an Egyptian cheetah covering your entire face! If dragons and cheetahs aren’t your style, you might consider a California Impressionist flower. All ages are welcome to the experience.

STORYTELLING!
1:30 PM
Curl up on the carpet in the First Californians Gallery in our Historic Wing and listen to our master storyteller weave an Indian tale or be captivated by a long ago, South American tale in our Pre-Columbian Gallery. Be enchanted!
